Corporate Social Responsibility
At Pearsons & Ward we are committed to our community. We continue to support our community as they have supported us since 1824.
The following are just some of the ways that we show thanks to our community for their longstanding custom:
In the community
We encourage all our colleagues to help out and pitch in with community projects.
Each year our Private Client department support fully the “make a will week” in April and November for St Catherine’s Hospice and Ryedale Charities. Members of the public in the Ryedale Area are invited to make a Will and the proceeds of which are paid directly to the aforesaid charities. The public benefit from our professional legal service knowing that not only will they receive an excellent service but also the fees they are charged will be paid directly to two very worthy charities.
In addition our Legal Advisers conduct seminars to the community and local business’s on various aspects of law and the wide ranging impacts including Private Client, Conveyancing and Employment matters. We are also part of the Yorkshire Rural Support Network.
Many of our legal advisers are also involved in community focussed events outside of their legal role that they conduct in their own time. The following are just some of the areas in which our legal advisers are involved:
Emma Elwess (Partner and Solicitor) is a Legal Advisor and full committee member Trustee of the Malton “League of Friends” supporting the Malton Hospital and a member of the Settrington Church Village Council. She is a member of the Alzheimer’s Society and gives help and advice at Legacy events and local groups.
The firm continues to show its support to the sporting community and is proud to be one of the sponsors of Malton RUFC.
Pearsons & Ward lawyers are encouraged to participate in pro-bono community work which forms an important part of our role in the community.
In addition with the activities referred to above our Family department regularly runs a series of Free Advice clinics for Clients in relation to all matrimonial matters as well as conducting half hour free interviews.
Our litigation department continues to increase its links with the Ryedale Citizen Advice Bureau.
At Pearsons & Ward the working environment we have created enables all our members to thrive and develop whatever their background. We are committed to training our members and supporting them to fulfilling their potential. We are committed to all of our existing and prospective employees equally without regard to gender, marital status, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.
